My one day in Lagos: The power of choice

The power of Choice

I was in Lagos some time back and best believe Lagos has some experiences, I realized how differently one would be and behave just by living in lagos, and yes, it is our experiences that shape our behaviours and our behaviours eventually shape our life. Let me tell you an experience I had in Lagos.

I was walking along the popular ikeja computer village with my bag hanged behind me like an Abuja boy, I always pride myself to been a very sensitive person, but I saw a worthy competition. Right behind me was this guy walking so close to me, I was in awe, like guy the space is wide, go your lane. Overtake me if you think I’m walking too slowly.

Unknowing to me, my guy had other plans, after a while I felt very uncomfortable and decided to stop for him to pass, lo, he had unzipped my bag and just a second more he would have taken my valuables. My face was like unripe plantain. Prior to this incidence I had seen people putting their bag to their chest, I like that “this ones are not normal sha” I didn’t need any further explanation.

choice

One of my favorite poems is “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood” it speaks to me on some deep level.

“And sorry I couldn’t travel both and be one traveler”

In life we are faced with choices, especially when you become an adult when you have to make your own choices and be held responsible for it. While it is easier to make a decision between good and bad, right and wrong. The challenge comes when you have to choose between two good choices, especially in a career path. Business sounds good to the ear and obviously very nice on paper, but the practical is a different ball game. When you know your purpose, it is easier to make a decision in that line.

“Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference”

Did you choose where you are now? Or life chose it for you? It is not too late to make a choice and live it ‘life is full of choices, a choice not to choose is also a choice’

Are you going with the crowd because it’s easy or are you going down the road less traveled cause that is what you want.
