Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
When she was asked if she feels her successes would intimidate a man away from her, her response was perfect, any man that would be intimidated by my success is the kind of man I won’t be interested in.
As you can see from the picture above, our WCW for this week is beautiful, elegant and I must confess God took His time in making her.
Chimamanda is a feminist or like she prefers to be called ‘ a happy feminist’ I feel in love with her after listening to her TED talk ‘the danger of a single story’ where she spoke elegantly on the dangers of a single story and no one explains it better than she does, her choice of words are out of this world, I’m pretty sure her inspirations are out of this world too. Her stories and interesting and intriguin; she is a role model to many.
Gen listening to her speak again in 2012 at TEDxEuston on “we should all be feminist” I decided to join in and be a feminist, she spoke KABOOM!!! Again, she nailed it.
She is all shades of awesome, a writer whose works has been translated to over 30 languages, she is the author of ‘the purple hibiscus’, ‘half of a yellow sun’, ‘the thing around yourneck’, ‘Americanah’ and ‘dear Ijeawele’, all of which has won several awards in different categories.
She is Nigerian and hails from a family of six children; she lived in Nigeria before traveling to America to study. The rest is history, awards after awards; one recognition after another and she shows no sign is retiring.
This and many more has made her our Woman crush for today.
