Are you playing it safe ?

Are you playing it safe?

Safety is the most illustrated word in most construction and Engineering firms, and I agree with their drive for safety for their employees and clients.

I was at a major Gas company in Nigeria and all through my stay, they drivers obeyed all driving rules, I mean literally everything, no calling and driving, seat belts even for back seats, no overloading and the most surprising one was the strict complaince to the speed limit.

I mean I saw drivers driving at 30KM/hour.

However as leaders, safe is not the way to achieve extra-ordinary results in life.

A smooth sea never makes a great sailor, “a ship is safe at the harbor, but that’s not what ships are made for”.

Herbett Casson said a leader must face danger. He must take the risk and the blame and the brunt of the storm.

David Viscot wrote “if your life is ever going to get better, you’ll have to take risks. There is simply no way you can grow without taking chances “

You have to challenge the normal, like I always say “normal is boring, I don’t like boring”

When next you meet a successful person, ask them the risk and chances they’ve had to take, I can guarantee you they have taken risks and made courageous decisions. Success they say favours the bold.

Everybody dies, but not everybody live. Stop living as if the aim of life is to arrive safely at death. LIVE.

Elizabeth Kenny reflected “it is better to be a lion for a day than a sheep all your life” this interprets to me a simple life is not to be desired.

It was Tommy Barnett who said “many people believe that you’re really walking by faith when there is no risk, but the truth is the longer you walk with God…the greater the risk”.

If you have found yourself throughout life never scared, embarrassed, disappointed or hurt, it means you have never taken any chances.

LIVE, my friend, live.
