Communication is a vital part of our everyday life. Some people are naturally better at communicating than others and some are more experienced. If we are good at talking, however, we shouldn’t be fooled into believing that we are good at communicating. Likewise, if we happen to be quiet, that doesn’t mean we are bad communicators. Hence, sharing information, knowledge or expressing an idea through verbal or nonverbal means is a skill that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Most days we walk through the day without much thought about how we will communicate. We speak to our family in the same old way, our chatter with the office receptionist is fleeting, and the emails we send are filled with our wants, needs, desires and demands. Where is the communication that is filled with goodness and intention?

We say to ourselves that our intention is to communicate with love and kindness, but giving a deeper thought to this, is that really true? If that were so true, then our own inner voices would be much kinder and loving. Our thoughts towards someone who is homeless would be of gratitude that they have the courage to be there and that you are able to help even if only with a kind word.

Our inner dialogue towards someone who is obese would be much nicer. Our frustrations towards the little things that aren’t going right would be to cut the cord, give yourself grace and turn to the next thing. The energy we emit when interacting with someone we aren’t in agreement with would be full of love, meekness and forgiveness.

When you are mindful in your communication in the quiet inner voices that reaches outward, then you are being mindful on all levels. The most intense energy comes from our feeling of contempt inside and really not what we are saying verbally.

The truth is; another one of those communications that we want to include is our mindfulness exercise. You must know that mindfulness is truly a muscle that must be exercised every day. The reason for this is that we are filled with so much negativity in the media and almost everything around us emits negativity, hence, mindfulness is needed to exercise on the mind intentional goodness as an essential for it to be natural.

We must strive to make our entire existence to be filled with the ability of mastering our energy, which helps us master our mind and ultimately our life. With this, we are sure of not just living fulfilled among people, but also having our inner peace and satisfaction as we progress in life.

How are you being more mindful in your inner and outer speech, with your staff, family, friends and those who don’t look the way you do?
